Growing my own veg with IBS can be difficult, as there are lots of fruit and vegetables you can and can’t eat, and it is different for all of us.
Last year, I grew a few things like tomatoes, beetroot, sweetcorn and potatoes. But since last year, I have found that I can’t eat sweetcorn, as my stomach just can’t cope with it.
This year, I've planted lots of tomatoes and peppers, along with beetroot, carrots, leeks and potatoes. I also love purple sprouting broccoli, so I've decided to have a go at growing that too.
Growing my own vegetables is something I really enjoy, and it's a lovely way to add more fibre to my diet. Purple sprouting broccoli is a good source of fibre too, which is a bonus!
They are all foods that I know I can eat, and they will be much better than some of the food you buy in the shops.
I also find that being out in the garden makes me feel better, especially when I’m having a bad day. There is something really calming about getting outside, doing a bit of gardening and watching everything grow.
